A Brief Herstory of Lipstick Pages
Created on a whim by a bored Southeast Texas resident in March 2003, Lipstick Pages evolved from a solo paper zine project to a fledgling but promising online magazine based in Austin, TX. Lipstick Pages celebrates the achievements of women who aren't necessarily blips on the pop culture radar - from innovative artists who confront social issues on and off canvas, to entertainers who bring their personal and political messages to fans in a uniquely engaging way. The mission of the online anthology is stated on the original web site: "Lipstick Pages is an independent zine for the mind, body, and spirit of the creative feminist. This zine is dedicated to the struggle for equality and the respect of women everywhere." After receiving interest and submissions from a small circle of feminist artists in 2006, Lipstick Pages has now expanded to include work from an amazing spectrum of visual and performance artists, photographers, poets, writers, and filmmakers.
