"Spin him like a top" -- Lucille Clifton
This ass is a big ass.
I got it from my momma.
It needs close-fitting underwear
To keep it in place.
It does not keep still
When I run.
This ass is
A rebellious ass.
It does not like to be fondled.
It does not like to be smacked
By high school boys who shout
Hey look at that fat ass.
This ass has never
Been bound by subservience
To the ideal of being smaller.
It is never censored.
It sways to the rhythm
Of its own salsa beat.
I have seen this ass stop a grown man
In his tracks and made him
Look twice.
