Call for Online Contributors - Winter 2010
The Lipstick Pages welcomes original art, essays, poetry, reviews, short fiction and non-fiction, and short films/videos with a feminist p.o.v. for the winter 2010 issue. Theme to be announced, but special consideration will be given to visual artist submissions, as well as essays, interviews and reviews featuring painters, graphic designers, photographers and filmmakers. Barriers to creativity (i.e., gender issues like sexual identity, sexism, discrimination and violence) and how it effects the accomplishments of these artists will also be considered. Subject matter for the winter edition of Lipstick Pages may be related to, but not exclusively concerned with, changing the lives of women - through individual, grassroots, and international activism.
Please note: Before submitting your original art and writing, please read our guidelines (below), and submit a query/letter of introduction when submitting any material. Guidelines: General
The Lipstick Pages prefers new, never published original work, but we occasionally accept previously published material. Before submitting your previously published work, please check copyright laws and permission agreements. There is no monetary compensation for submissions to our online magazine, but the exposure and experience you gain may be compensation enough, especially if you are a new artist. We do not charge a reader fee and we are not a vanity publication. The Lipstick Pages reserves the right to refuse publication. This does not mean we support censorship; work that includes nudity, violence, or obscenities will be accepted based on artistic and social merits.
In your first e-mail submission, we ask that you include "Submission Query" or "Contributor Query" in the subject field for immediate attention. Please read the following formatting information to ensure we receive and review your work to be considered.
Guidelines: Format
- Art (All mediums - oil, watercolor, collage, sketch, sculpture, mixed media, electronic graphic design; 3 pieces/contributor.*)
- Photos (1024x768 pixel limit - 3 photos/contributor.*)

Important: Don't forget to include a brief query or letter of introduction when you send image files of your original work electronically. Acceptable files: .jpg/.jpeg, .gif, .png, and .bmp attached files only. Film may be sent in .avi/.mov (NTSC) video format via fileshare server, i.e., yousendit.com. We do not accept images by fax or video copies by mail at this time. *Please note: "Muses" calls for images that involve the female form. LP limits art, film, and photo submissions to 3 per contributor (per issue) unless contacted for special exhibit.

Please Note: For consideration, send a cover/query letter of introduction (in body of email), which includes a brief author bio and introduction of your work. You should also append the title and your name to the file you send LP as an email attachment - e.g., "Your Work_Your Name.doc" or "Your Work_Your Name.pdf". No html in text, or manuscripts in body of e-mail please. Lipstick Pages has a very busy editor, so please proofread for basic spelling and grammatical errors before sending your work. Essays, poems, and stories that explore the issues of feminism will be considered priority for publication.
If you have any questions about guidelines and deadlines and you aren't a regular contributor, please don't ask the editor. Submit inquiries to info@thelipstickpages.net or lipstickpages@gmail.com.
If you encounter any technical trouble with our web site or submitting your work, please direct it to lipstickpages@gmail.com.
